Is Marriage an Unalienable Right, or a Civil Right?

To answer this question, we must first understand the origin of marriage. In the beginning God created them, male and female (Gen. 1:27). Therefore, a man shall leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they shall become one flesh (Gen. 2:24).

If we read the above statement correctly, then we must acknowledge that marriage is a gift of God and therefore must be conducted according to the Word of God and the Will of God. This is why it is an unalienable right. No state or government agency can render this right, except if it is granted by God himself.

If we are aware of the clause found in The Declaration of Independence “that we are endowed by Our Creator with certain unalienable rights” (which simply means that they can not be revoked by men, nor can they be given by men). The state, county, or city license to marry is nothing more than a public recognition of God’s gift to unite a man and a woman in Holy matrimony. The Word endowed in the clause indicated that the right to marry originates with the Creator, and again must be conducted according to His Will.

You may ask, when does marriage become a civil right, or right of a citizen?...The answer is…When marriage is received by the authority of the creator and conducted in accordance with his written will. Even the 56 signers of the Declaration had the wisdom to understand this truth.

Therefore, the right to the Pursuit of Happiness is granted by our Creator and affirmed by those who established the “Rule of Law” in our country. If we stray from these principles of Our Creator and the founding fathers, then we have no moral ground to stand on, and the institute of traditional marriage is corrupt and no longer affords those who engage in such tradition, either the blessing or the favor that our God has promised.
